Two movie producers are touring around southwestern South Dakota this weekend premiering the release of their movie, “Walt Before Mickey.” You can catch the movie and meet the producers Thursday night in Dell Rapids for a special Midwest Premiere.
The movie, based on the book with the same name, stars Thomas Ian Nicholas as Walt Disney, as well as Jon Heder playing Roy Disney, Jodie Sweetin as Charlotte Disney, and Kate Katzman as Disney’s wife Lillian.
Producers Armando Gutierrez and Arthur L. Bernstein are the minds behind the flick following Disney’s early years of animation and his successes and failures. They say the movie captures just how motivated Disney was in life and his career.
“His goal was just to purely entertain people with a clean heart. He didn’t want to make horror movies, he set out to make family movies to entertain both the parents and the kids,” said Gutierrez.
“We just want to show that he never stopped believing. He always kept his persistence, and he kept on going and got everybody around him to keep on living that american dream. He is what he is today,” added Bernstein.
You can catch “Walt Before Mickey” at the Dells Theatre at 6:30 p.m. with a Q and A session after the showing with Gutierrez and Bernstein. There will also be a premiere Friday at the Luxury Cinemas 5 in Mitchell and Saturday at the Huron Luxury Cinemas.
